Adolescent Reproductive Health in the Philippines

About the project The Adolescent Reproductive Health campaign created for the Philippine Legislators' Committee on Population and Development (PLCPD) aims to spread awareness about adolescent pregnancy in the Philippines. This project involves three animated videos, social media cards, and a primer, which are segmented into three sections:
  1. Adolescents and Adolescent Pregnancy Situation in the Philippines
  2. Health and Development Impacts of Adolescent Pregnancy
  3. Policy Recommendations to Improve Adolescent Pregnancy Situation

As the project targets not only the youth but law makers and the general public, the goal was to design a campaign that was engaging yet professional enough to deliver the message. To do this, a youthful style based on a set of young, friendly, and diverse characters is complemented by clear typography. This also follows the organization's branding, with orange and purple as the main campaign colors.

Style guide A clear visual system was needed to make important information on adolescent pregnancy in the Philippines easier to understand. To differentiate the three categories of information, different line patterns were used as textures to separate the three sections of the campaign.

The colors purple and orange were also used not only because they symbolize women and the #NoMoreChildrenHavingChildren campaign, but also to make the content more approachable and accessible. Lastly, as the project makes use of youthful illustrations with a lot of text, it was important to find a typeface that was clear and credible, working best in both headlines or paragraph settings. Chivo was used as the primary typeface, partnered by Barlow Semi Condensed.

Primer & Social Media As an extension of the campaign, a short primer document and a series of social media posts were published. These documents follow the visual system set by the informational videos.
